UK Double crochet stitch (dc)/ US single crochet stitch (sc)
This is a tutorial for the double crochet stitch (UK terms), single crochet stitch for US terms.
If you are new to crochet and have not yet read the slipknot and chain stitch post, then please go back and have a read.
To start make a slipknot and chain 10.
1) Insert your hook in the 2nd chain from the hook (do not count the chain on the hook).
Looking at the image below , the top loop of the chain stitch (where i'm pointing) is the back loop, the one on the bottom is the front loop. There's also a back post behind these 2.
You need to insert your hook through the centre, so that the hook passes through the back look and the back post. (see image below)
2) yarn over hook.
3) Draw the yarn through both the loops on your hook.
4) That's 1 double crochet to us Brits, or 1 single crochet to most other people. Continue your way across the chain stitches.
When you come to turn your work, Ch1 then turn.
